Creative Workshops in Shrewsbury for Every Occasion
Frequently asked questions
Not at all! No previous art, painting, or crafting experience is needed to join a workshop at Hammer & Stain Shrewsbury.
Every workshop is instructor-led, with our team guiding you through the creative process step-by-step. We’ll provide the materials, tools, and support—you simply show up ready to have fun.
Whether you’ve never picked up a paintbrush or consider yourself a seasoned maker, you’ll feel welcome, supported, and right at home at our craft table.
We recommend booking as early as possible, especially if you have a specific date in mind.
Private parties: While there is no set minimum amount of time required to reserve your date, we recommend reaching out several weeks in advance. All guests must register at least 7 days before the event so we have time to prepare each selected project and gather the necessary materials.
Children’s birthday parties: Birthday parties must be booked at least 3 weeks in advance. If you have a preferred date, we strongly recommend booking 6 to 8 weeks ahead, as popular dates can fill quickly.
Planning ahead gives you the best chance of securing your preferred date and ensures we have plenty of time to prepare everything for your celebration.

Our mobile workshops are available for private events, corporate gatherings, fundraisers, school events, church groups, and other large group celebrations. Off-site events require a minimum of 15 participants.
We serve communities throughout the York, PA to Hunt Valley, MD area. Travel within 20 miles of our Shrewsbury studio is included at no additional charge. For locations between 20 and 60 miles away, a flat $40 travel fee applies.
All you need to provide are tables, chairs, and trash bins. We’ll bring the projects, materials, tools, supplies, and instructor-led guidance needed for a fun and creative experience.
You provide the space—we bring the creativity!
Private in-studio events require a minimum of 6 participants. Our studio can accommodate up to 18 guests, depending on the project selections and event setup.
This makes private events a great option for smaller friend groups, family gatherings, coworkers, birthday celebrations, and other special occasions. You don’t need a large crowd to enjoy your own private creative experience!
Have a larger group? Reach out to us to discuss your options, including bringing the Hammer & Stain experience directly to your location with a mobile workshop.

We offer camp sessions specifically geared toward ages 8 to 12 and ages 12 to 16, allowing us to better match the projects, instruction, and pace to each age group.
No previous art or crafting experience is needed! Whether your child loves creating or is trying something new for the first time, our instructors provide step-by-step guidance and encouragement throughout the week.
Each camp is designed to help young makers build confidence, explore new creative techniques, and have fun while making projects they’ll be proud to take home.
